Join Sarah Filzen, eRYT 500, for Weekend 2 of Advanced Sequencing on Saturday and Sunday May 23rd & 24th, 10:00am-5:00pm at Healium Hot Yoga-Bay View’s Cozy Studio. We will look at both classical and non-classical vinaysas/surya namaskars, breaking down the individual asanas anatomically and energetically and discussing the “purpose” and logic behind each namaskar. Participants will design and sequence a class based upon the foundation of a chosen vinyasa, with variations and modifications included, which will be taught to the group and critiqued.

Attendance at Weekend 1 is not a prerequisite for this course; the weekends are stand-alone modules.

This workshop will discuss the creative process involved in teaching a yoga asana class: how to tap into your unique perspective, hone your teaching style, where to find inspiration and how to translate that into a cohesive asana sequence. It will also discuss how to promote and market that inspiration to students. For 300 hour enrollees only: homework will be to design, promote and teach a class based on their muse to the public (time/date TBD) for free/by donation; this class will be supervised and critiqued by a lead trainer.

*Important: Credit can be applied towards the 300 hour teaching certification or Yoga Alliance Continuing Education credit, not both. To receive 300 hour credit, you must be formally enrolled in Healium’s 300 hour advanced training program prior to this class.

This workshop will explore yoga props, their effects on the nervous system and physiology in asana. Discussion will include how to creatively use props as well as how to help students create boundaries and a strong foundation when props are not available. Hands On Adjustments

We will look at several commonly practiced asanas - as well as asanas suggested by participants- both anatomically and energetically to determine best practices for manual adjustments. Participants will work with partners for practical experience and a discussion of ethics, consent, trauma and other considerations will be included.

Join Sarah Filzen, eRYT 500, at Healium Hot Yoga-Bay View’s Cozy Studio on Saturday and Sunday March 28th & 29th from 10:00am-5:00pm for a two day workshop focusing on Yoga for Hips. This weekend-long workshop will cover the anatomy of the hip joints, asanas for hip rotation, flexion and extension as well as sequencing for hip mobility and stability. Also covered will be working with hip injuries and hip replacements. A practical application of this work will be demonstrated by teaching a safe, hip-stabilizing asana practice. Class will not be heated.
